An Apple a Day.........

If you're in the Sussex or Warren County area, and you have children, then you've probably heard of Dr Chi. Actually, if you're under 40, and you grew up in the area, there's a chance he has been your pediatrician. He's kind of a mainstay in the area who has been around .... pretty much forever! He recently moved his offices. If you're in the Hackettstown area, stop by - my work hangs on his wall as soon as you walk in the door.

I happened to be in the area today, so I popped in to grab a quick photo. The waiting room has less than ideal lighting for photography, but here goes.  I had the concept of six square canvas wraps featuring tiny feet and hands. It's pretty cool to see it realized.

Oops, I Did it Again

Edible Jersey is a pretty cool 'zine. I blogged back in August about doing a photo spread for a feature story in the magazine. I was invited to contribute more images to the current issue. I shot images of The NJ Foodshed AllianceGenesis Farm, and Salt Gastropub. If you live in NJ, pick up a copy. They are in health food stores and restaurants and farmers markets across the state.

Edible Jersey - Spring 2011 Issue

From their website, “Edible Jersey is a quarterly magazine that celebrates the local, seasonal food of the Garden State. Brimming with engaging stories and enticing photography, Edible Jersey tells the story of food, from source to table, spotlighting the growers, producers, fishermen, retailers, chefs, home cooks, and others who energize our culinary community.” Read more for yourself. www.ediblecommunities.com/jersey/about-us/about-edible-jersey.htm

Here are the images I shot of Salt Gastropub.

Sussex County Wedding: Sneak Peek

These are some images I shot at Kittatinny Valley State Park. These guys are like family to me. I had never done wedding portraits before, but I was very excited to shoot a few pictures for them on their special day. These are my favorites. Enjoy!

This one is my personal favorite!

Putting the Shoe on the Other Foot: Being the Subject and Not the Photographer

I happen to be on a pretty intense course of self-improvement in the art and technique of photography. Among the bits of valuable advice I have gotten was this little gem; to be a better photographer, move to the other side of the lens. I am naturally camera-shy and I generally don't like to be the center of attention, preferring to observe others more {if you're a photographer this may sound familiar}. The thought of being the subject of a photography session was very strange to me. I knew I had to do it. And it was so helpful to know what it feels like to be the subject of the image (and not the maker of the image).

I happen to know a number of talented photographers in my social circle. Aga, who is half of the incredibly skilled duo of  http://www.agaimages.com/ did some amazing work making me feel more comfortable(ish) in front of the camera, capturing my essence, and mastering focus and light with nothing more then her camera and lens (not even a reflector!)

IKEA Love

Oh IKEA,  there is so much to look at in your store.  I can't believe I spent more than half my time there looking through my camera's viewfinder. (Did I go there to shop or to take pictures?) And nobody made me feel uncomfortable jockeying for position in front of plastic hangers and light bulbs with my camera. I haven't shot anything with my little Rebel in awhile, so I brought that along with my 50mm lens. Sometimes I feel like photography is digital painting and this is what I "painted" this afternoon. I hope it brings a splash of color to your day.

Peace at the Park | Sussex County, NJ Outdoor Photographer

In stark contrast to what is going on in other parts of the state here as well as the dramatic tragedy currently affecting the Pacific, there was relative quiet at Kittatinny Valley State Park in Andover, NJ this morning. Enjoy these quiet images I shot on this chaotic day for our planet. I wish for peace and blessings to our brothers and sisters (both human and animals) overseas.

Thanks to Shadowhouse Creations for the use of the textures. http://shadowhousecreations.blogspot.com/

In like a lion, out like a lamb.....

March has been very fun and busy already and it's only the 6th! Here are a few birthday images I shot last weekend. I also finished a little assignment for a magazine – I will post my proofs once the spring issue has been distributed, and I am psyched about shooting my friends' wedding in two weeks..... plus my birthday is this month!  In April I have some spring mini-sessions, a charity event in the works, and a shoot-out in Princeton with some Fast Track peeps. The rain is washing away all the snow and tiny sprouts are poking out of the soil. My 20-month-old is happy and healthy. Life is good.

I am looking forward to giving this away......

I am pretty excited about auctioning off a free session and some prints at a community event later this month (all for a good cause). Packaging up said prize was quite a feat for someone as visual as I am!
