I know it's been quiet here at Firefly Photography for the last week or so. I actually have a number things in the works and I will roll out the big reveal once I get everything squared away, so stay tuned! There is so much newness on the horizon and I am very excited to share!
And I am very grateful to everyone who has had faith in me this past year as Firefly has slowly but surely grown into something I am very passionate about and very proud of. I couldn't have done it without you guys.
Also, I just want to say an additional thank you to my amazing clients for selling out my By the Sea mini sessions in one day! There will be a little thank you treat for each of you. I will fill you in on the details regarding what to wear, what to expect and and your treat! Details are coming this week!!
Speaking of newness, here is 10-day-old newness from a recent newborn session.
Baby Blessings!!

I did it! And so can you!
I am currently pursuing professional photographer certification from the PPCC/PPA. Being self-taught, I felt like I wanted to do more than just join the PPA for $323, I wanted to earn the proverbial "seal of approval" from them. I am halfway through the process of earning this designation. I recently got the notice in the mail that I passed my first try at the CPP exam! The last time I filled out a ScanTron was over a decade ago, while I was applying to grad school and sat for the GRE. (I swear there is evil pixie dust sprinkled on every ScanTron form). I blasted the Poconos radio station that was playing Alice in Chains that morning as I drove from my hotel to the exam site. Many thanks to the Northeast-Pennsylvania-Professional-Photographers-Association for graciously hosting the exam at their conference. Here is the ridiculous amount of flash cards I used.....
How many pencils does one really need to complete a 100-question exam?

Post-exam celebration.....
I highly recommend pursuing certification, even though it isn't easy! If you are interested in earning CPP designation, there is a ton of great information out there to help along in the exam prep process. I found the Certify with Sandy forum instrumental. The exam is broken down as follows (according to the CPP website). Good luck!!!
The next step for me is the image portfolio submission, and that's a whole other journey...........

Love in Bloom
Maternity sessions are my favorite. I never understood why random women would look at my ripening belly and smile when I was pregnant and now that I am a mother, I completely understand and I really can't put the feeling into words. I just love pregnancy! Really, I do. (I am training to be a birth doula and hope to take a Hypnoborthing instructor course this fall). When I have the opportunity to photograph a pregnant mom-to-be, I am in total bliss.
This particular mama has a sensitivity for the outdoors, and I think I captured that. One morning during my run, I literally could see this expectant couple standing on this lush stretch of railroad bed trail. We were also lucky to have the benefit of springtime blooms - like irises and poppies. Even the family dog got in on the photo-taking action!
